  • Q: Can I travel to Bhutan without a tour operator?
    Travel for most visitors to Bhutan must be booked through a registered Tour Operator and registered Tour Guide.
  • Q: Do I need a visa to get into Bhutan?
    A visa is required for travel to Bhutan with the exception of visitors from India, Bangaladesh, and Maldives.
  • Q: When is the best time of year to travel?
    The most common time to travel to Bhutan is from late September to November, there are many festivals to attend and the monsoon/growing season has ended so the climate is dry. December through April brings some cold days, but it is also a wonderful time to see snow on the high peaks and enjoy the new years festivals.
  • Q: Is Bhutan a safe place to travel?
    PerĀ the U.S. State Department's website:"There is relatively little crime in Bhutan. Reasonable precautions should be taken when visiting major towns and, in particular, when going out at night."
  • Q: How can I enter Bhutan?
    The Himalayas provide natural barriers on along the national borders of Bhutan, so entry is limited to a few locations. If traveling by air, you can fly with either Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines to Paro airport. Flights are serviced from a variety of locations. If traveling by land, there are three potential entry ports in Phuentsholing, Gelephu, and Samdrup Jongkhar.
  • Q: How can I book flights?
    Flights can be booked from the two air companies that service Bhutan: Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines. If you need any help booking with them, please let us help!
  • Q: How much can I expect to pay?
    Minimum rates start at $200 per night per person and depend on factors such as party size and season of travel. All trip prices include lodging, meals, a tour guide, and ground transportation. Airfare is not included. These "Minimum Daily Package Rates" are set by the Tourism Council of Bhutan.
  • Q: How can I pay for the trip?
    Currently the only way to pay for travel to Bhutan is through a wire transfer between banks. This is changing soon as Bhutan National Bank is planning to introduce an E-payment gateway.
